A summer Saturday night in REO Town with Picnic A Food Truck

In a summer filled with busy weekend plans, I found myself decidedly not busy on this beautiful summer Saturday. Stella is spending a couple of nights with my in-laws, and Zack had work commitments, so it was just going to be Margot and me for dinner tonight.

My friend Ellen sent me a message earlier this afternoon to say that she had been thinking about checking out Picnic A Food Truck in Lansing, and wanted to see if we’d like to join her. It sounded like a great way to enjoy yummy food, fun company, and a beautiful summer night.

Picnic A Food Truck first debuted in fall 2017 at Uncle John’s Cider Mill; they can still be found there, as well as other spots around the Lansing area. Tonight, they were in REO Town off of South St.

The entire menu sounded great. Based on their recommendation, I ordered the fish taco and brussels sprouts, and Ellen ordered the gouda grilled cheese and cajun sweet potato fries. We found a picnic table outside The Artisan Company, a salon that has a beautiful and bright mural outside. We took a bunch of fun photos while we waited for our food.

All of the food looked absolutely delicious, and tasted wonderful! The brussels sprouts were my favorite. Next time I’d love to try one of the burgers, because they also sounded fantastic.

After having dinner and chatting for a bit, we took a walk down Washington Ave. to explore and take more photos in front of some of the murals. It was such a warm and beautiful #LoveLansing night to be out and about.

Considering the fact that I probably would have heated up a frozen burrito from Costco (NO SHAME IN THAT GAME) for dinner, I’m so thankful that Ellen invited us out to try something new.

Now I’m wearing my jammies, watching “Mean Girls,” and ready to break into some Jeni’s ice cream. Cheers to soaking up every bit of summer in our lovely community.
