In spring 2018, I went with my friends Linda and Ellen to visit the cute little town of Owosso. One of our must-stops was Foster Coffee Co, which was founded in Owosso in 2014. Foster celebrates community through local partnerships and, of course, coffee. I loved their cozy vibe, and the coffee was also so yummy.
Over a year later, I am so excited that Foster Coffee Co. is opening an East Lansing location in the new Center City project along Grand River. This Wednesday night, I was given the opportunity to get a sneak peek of the location, which is set to make its debut with a grand opening weekend on 9/20-9/22. I was also sent a fun little package ahead of the sneak preview with a Foster Coffee Co. shirt, mug, sticker, and gift card.
What I really like about this new space is it has its own look and personality, even in comparison to the Owosso location. There’s an industrial vibe, with metal fixtures, high ceilings, white walls, and comfortable furnishings. I love the addition of loft space, with plenty of tables (and outlets!) for people looking to work or have a meeting. On the main level, comfortable couches and window seats feel like great spots to visit with friends. There are still traces of Foster’s signature teal, including an accent wall in the loft area and the espresso machines.
At the sneak preview, we had a chance to order coffee and sample some of their delicious treats. Even though the weather has been muggy this week and it was 6 p.m., I couldn’t help but order a hot latte. Look how beautiful it was:
We also sampled their avocado toast and smoothie offerings. All of the staff was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and providing us with whatever drinks we desired.
I know that Foster Coffee Co. is going to become a favorite destination to meet friends in East Lansing or get writing done. There’s space to spread out, but it still feels comfortable and welcoming.
